About Lake Havasu City
The Parker Dam construction in 1934 through 1938 made way for Lake Havasu reservoir and created almost 450 miles of shoreline. In 1940 through 1942, Lake Havasu was slowly filled by the colorado river with 211 billion gallons of water, creating 60 miles of navigable waterways. In 1963 Robert McCulloch, an American entrepreneur purchased 26 square miles of desert that would eventually become Lake Havasu City. He opened a chainsaw manufacturing plant and the workers arrived. The infamous purchase of the London Bridge followed a few years later, and the rest is history.
